Garage Doors I am a 71 year old pensioner and sometime ago we (my partner and I) decided to have an extension added to our home along with other improvement so as to have more space and comfort.- 8th June 2008 work started that the builder estimated would be completed in 6/8 weeks, the following 14 months have been hell. The Builder almost caused the house to collapse, walked out while the Council Building Inspector was here, we went to Adjudication where he was instructed to employ a competent Builder to put right the damage he had caused. We finalised the contract with the Builder on 11th April '09 and paid him all monies we owed, on 5 May '09 he went into Liquidation. Included in the contract we had with the Builder was a Wessex Garage Door which the Builder ordered through Bexley Prestige Garage Doors and we paid for as part of the contract we had with the Builder. Clive Stanton arrived in July 2008 with brochures for us to choose a garage door, we chose a Wessex GRP one costing £1,050.00 and he came back in August '08 when our drive was completed to measure the opening it was to fit into and said it will be ready for fitting in 3 to 4 weeks time (September '08). By September things started to go 'Pear shaped' first floor doors wouldn't open or shut large cracks appeared in the front bedroom walls, a Structural Engineer said the house came close to collapses and the Builder didn't understand the fundamentals of house construction. When we confronted the Builder in the presents of the Council Building Inspector he walked out and left us and only returned after Adjudication was forced on him some five months later. When
the garage door was ready in September '08 Clive
Stanton owner of Bexley Prestige
Garage Doors refused to fit it because the Builder had
not paid him and regularly rang me over the next five months asking
if I had paid the Builder which I told him I had paid £20,000
which included payment for the door and a small amount was due on
completion of the contract. After Adjudication the Builder was told to employ a competent Builder to repair the damage to our home and he must install the Garage door.- The garage door was 'thrown-in' on 11 March by Bexley Prestige Garage Doors' Cowboys and a couple of weeks later a meeting was arrange between myself the builder and a very aggressive Clive Stanton to assess the bodge-up fitting of our garage door by Clive's 'Merry Men' (click here to read part of the letter I wrote to Clive Stanton). Our garage door was installed by Clive's Cowboys on the 11 March, we concluded our business with the Builder and paid all final monies owing on 16 April, Bexley Prestige Garage Doors probably got notification after 16 April of the Builders Creditors meeting, Clive Stanton trespass on our property and stole our garage door on the 27 April and the Creditors meeting took place at the Holiday Inn, Old Bexley on the 5 May. Being very worried that the Builder has not paid other supplier of material that was used on our home and they, Like Bexley Prestige Garage Doors, might just trespass onto our property and remove materials they consider they still own I have written to Mr Marc J Landsman, Carmichael & Co who are the Liquidators for some clarification.
